Three Providence police officers have been arrested on charges that they helped a cocaine-dealing operation.
State police say those arrested include a narcotics detective and a school resource officer.
Providence police say Detective Joseph Colanduono, Patrolman Robert Hamlin and Sergeant Steven Gonsalves have been suspended without pay. A phone message left with the police union was not immediately returned.
State Police Col. Brendan Doherty says the accused officers were sometimes on duty when they made phone calls as part of the illegal operation. They say none of the dealing happened at a school.
The men are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Providence District Court.
